The summer of 2007 will forever be remembered as our “Ultimate Volksvegan Adventure.” We sold or stored all we owned, hopped in the grease-powered bus, and traveled with no particular destination in mind!
We had been wanting to explore and find a place to settle that truly fits us for a while… and we decided that there’s no better way to do it than take a few months off to visit the places we were considering. Of course, there was plenty of exploration of the outdoors along the way, and we promoted biofuels as well!
The category “ultimate adventure 07” has been added to all posts about our trip, and this blog serves as a journal of the journey. We’d planned on being on the road for a few months and mostly staying in the Pacific Northwest, and we explored Canada (mostly Banff National Park) and northern California as well… mostly we just went the bus took us!
Planned Departure Date: Monday, June 18th
Itinerary Unknown (well, partially known):
- June 19th – 22nd: Boise (dropping off stuff for storage)

- July – August: Canada – Banff and other National Parks in the Canadian Rockies
- August – September: Oregon and California: Bend, Eugene, Crater Lake National Park, Mt. Shasta
- September – October: The Great State California: Lassen Volcanic, Yosemite, King’s Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks

- November: Southwest route back to Cali – Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, mountain biking in Moab
It’s hard for me not to plan every detail of a trip, but the open-ended nature of the trip was good for us. We went wherever we felt called to and stayed as long as we wanted. The trip spilled over from summer into fall and winter before we decided to move to the beautiful Mendocino Coast that we visited in our travels!
