Well, I did a thing. I started my own email newsletter. I’m making it up as I go along, and I may eventually split it out between different topics, but one thing at a time, you know?
I’ve been doing email marketing since my first web design job for PETA out of college around 2005, when I’d have to create custom html templates. Yeah I might have had to hand code the html and troubleshoot finicky email platforms, but back then the content of the email wasn’t up to me. As I moved from just a graphic designer to take on more generalized marketing roles, I came to love me some Mailchimp, and for many of my roles I’ve been solely in charge of all customer and sometimes internal or vendor email communications, and over the years I learned many more platforms and updated my training on things like deliverability. Some of my favorite platforms that I’ve learned are Klaviyo (a powerful email platform / CRM that’s cannabis-friendly), Hubspot (a badass CRM & sales / marketing tool), and beehiiv (where I host my newsletter, it’s more like Substack with some great growth tools for publishers).
Email is not dead, no matter what the kids say, and it’s still an essential part of every Marketing plan. So why haven’t I been doing this email thing for myself?! Good question.

So I may be creating more work for myself. Now I have not only a blog, but a paid email platform to keep up with?! But here’s the thing, my subscribers will be counting on me to publish a newsletter at least monthly (I’m shooting for a weekly cadence eventually, working on the discipline part). You get to hold me accountable!
My newsletter will always have a free option, so subscribe away and check it out. And if you’d like to show a little more support, you can upgrade to a monthly subscription (or commit to a year to save). I plan to create some special issues of the newsletter for paid subscribers, and occasionally share other goodies like my “Secret Sauce” Marketing templates, checklists, spreadsheets, resources, and why not, I’ll even throw in more adorable cat photos of Mochi and Boba. As a treat.
Below is the list of potential topics that came to mind first to talk about on the newsletter. In addition, I’ll share new things I’m learning in the realm of marketing, and I might end up cross-posting some stuff here on the blog. I am also not sure Stripe (beehiiv’s monetization platform) will allow me to talk about weed on the newsletter if I’m offering paid subs or running ads, so I might keep my cannabis industry content here. It’s an experiment!
Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments, or subscribe and then reply once you get an email from me.

Huge thanks to my 15 or so subscribers so far who have seen my sloppy rollout of the newsletter in real time as I figure out beehiiv and get things integrated. I truly appreciate the support. Let’s gooooooo!
